The following information is for teachers and administrators planning field trips to the Marlboro County Museum. Please call 843-479-5624 or email lmcqueen@marlborocounty.sc.gov with questions or to set up your trip.
RESERVATION: Book your field trip by calling the museum at 843-479-5624 or emailing lmcqueen@marlborocounty.sc.gov. We ask that you book your field trip at least two weeks in advance. We will make every effort to accommodate the date/time you have in mind, but please have an alternate date/time in mind if necessary. When you book your field trip, please share with us any special areas of study on which you would like to focus.
CHAPERONES: Teachers and other adult chaperones are responsible for maintaining order and making sure students behave appropriately in the museum. They must stay with the group and keep the students together and following rules. We require an adequate number of adults to properly supervise the students:
· PreK-3: One adult for every 5 students
· Grades 4-6: One adult for every 8 students
· Grades 7-12: One adult for every 12 students
BEHAVIOR: Students are expected obey the following rules. Failure to do so will result in the student being asked to leave the museum:
· No gum, candy, food, or drinks in exhibit spaces
· No running, jostling, or roughhousing
· No leaning, sitting, or climbing on cases or other displays
· No touching of items on exhibit without express permission
· No entering areas that are marked “private” or “employees only”
AMENITIES: We have very limited bathroom facilities: one single toilet and sink downstairs. Please take this into account when planning your trip. We have a gift shop with books of local interest, souvenirs, and items made by local artisans. We are only able to accept cash or checks, no debit or credit cards. We have two picnic tables on the museum grounds that may be used for lunch if desired. Please let the director know in advance if you wish to use the picnic tables.
OTHER FACILITIES: In addition to the museum, we have two other facilities that are currently available for tours. These are the Jennings-Brown House, a historic house museum, and the Medical Museum. Please let the director know when booking your field trip if you wish to visit either or both of these facilities too.
CANCELLATIONS: Please let us know in advance if you are unable to make a planned field trip.
